ICT

Information Communication Technology is moving towards some exciting times ahead as we can now freely expand on what was the ICT National Curriculum.  The scope to now study programming technologies, including the use of the Raspberry Pi, will give another dimension to our developing technological world that we live in.  We will also ensure that pupils are kept up-to-date with the latest in Office Applications, empowering them with the skills needed in a modern working environment.  This also gives pupils the skills to use ICT within other subject areas, with many having their own dedicated computer access.

We are fortunate to have four dedicated Computer Rooms for the ICT Department to use.  All are large, ‘open plan’ classrooms offering the options for pupils to work comfortably on written tasks or to take part in group work, in addition to having a one-to-one pupil to computer ratio in ICT lessons (maximum class size is currently 25).  All rooms are fitted with a Data Projector and Interactive White Board with integrated sound.

To ensure that we are kept up-to-date with software development, the school is part of the Microsoft Open Value Subscription − Education Solutions, which enables us to install a large array of the Microsoft suit of programmes shortly after release.
